What Makes Our Hunting Experience Unique?

  • 100% ethical hunting – no canned game

  • Free-range concessions in varying terrain

  • Personalised planning based on your goals and abilities

  • Experienced, licensed professional hunters and trackers

Our Hunting Terrain

Our concessions cover mountains, valleys, bushveld and open plains—each suited to different hunting styles. All hunting areas are within a 3-hour drive of Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), near Graaff-Reinet.

When to Hunt

The best time for hunting in the Eastern Cape is between March and September. Expect mild, dry conditions with temperatures ranging from 8–30°C. Mountain hunts may involve sub-zero mornings.

Hunting Styles

We mainly practice walk-and-stalk hunting, adjusting daily routes based on weather, recent sightings, and your input. Shooting distances typically range from 50–300 metres.

Your professional hunter will ensure you are within your effective range before any shot is taken.

Tailored to Your Fitness Level

Our safaris are adaptable. Whether you're looking for a challenging mountain stalk or something less physical, we plan the experience around your capabilities. Let us know in advance if you have any limitations.

Types of Hunts We Offer

Plains Game Hunting

Plains game hunting in the Eastern Cape offers a diverse and rewarding experience. Our free-range concessions are home to high-quality trophies, including:

  • Kudu

  • Gemsbuck

  • Springbuck (Common, Black, White)

  • Wildebeest (Black and Blue)

  • Burchell's, Hartman’s, and Cape Mountain Zebra

  • Duiker, Steenbuck, Blesbuck, and more

We hunt these animals on vast, unfenced land—offering a truly wild and fair-chase experience. If you’re new to African hunting or looking to collect multiple species in one trip, plains game is the perfect starting point.

Mountain Hunts

For those seeking a physically and mentally demanding hunt, our mountain safaris offer just that.

These high-elevation areas are home to:

  • Cape Mountain Zebra

  • Klipspringer

  • Mountain Reedbuck

  • The elusive highland Kudu

Snow is not uncommon during winter months, making for dramatic scenery and memorable challenges. Because vehicles can’t access these peaks, retrieval is done on foot or horseback.

Family-Friendly Hunts

At Wellfound Safaris, we love sharing the hunting experience with families. Bring your spouse, kids, or a group of friends—our camps and hunts are designed to accommodate all.

  • Discounted rates for non-hunting guests

  • Children under 16 only pay for trophies (no day fees)

  • Lodges offer comfortable, social spaces for all to enjoy

We’re passionate about passing on hunting traditions to the next generation in a safe, ethical, and unforgettable way.

Bowhunting Safaris

For hunters who prefer the challenge and silence of the bow, our free-range concessions offer the perfect environment for ethical bowhunting. With careful planning, natural blinds, and strategic stalking, we get you close.

Our terrain includes both open plains and thicker bushveld, ideal for ambush setups and walk-and-stalk opportunities. Whether you're after kudu, warthog, or springbuck, we tailor the hunt to your gear, draw weight, and preferred distance.

We’ve guided both seasoned bowhunters and first-timers—let us help you plan a bowhunt that delivers on skill, patience, and reward.
